As a child I loved art but thought I could only doodle. As a stay-at-home mom, I started crafting, mostly to decorate my space. I Picked up some acrylic paint for a project and my journey with art began. As I learned how paint, I started painting for family and friends. As my skills grew, more people asked me to paint for birthdays, graduations, and weddings. I watched youtube videos and read art books to expand my skills as an acrylic artist.

My art journey took another turn when I began coloring with colored pencils and alcohol markers as a simple evening hobby, something to do while sitting in bed. As I learned more techniques I started combining pencils and alcohol markers in my work. I fell in love not only with the finished pieces but with the process and the thrill of discovering new mediums. I have been picking up and combining different art mediums ever since.

Now I needed to decide what subjects I would paint. I asked myself what am I most passionate about? Growing up, my mother rescued animals from the local pound, and I’ve followed that path. Every one of my pets has been a rescue, including my most recent dog, that was saved from the euthanasia list. I started to memorialize departed furry family members in my art and decided I would do Pet portraits.

That wasn’t enough for me though. I’m passionate about all animals not just pets. I was obsessed with big cats and whales as a teen and spent hours watching national geographic documentaries. I like a good landscape or still life and I have done a few portraits for family. My favorite thing to paint is animals however I also enjoy fantasy. Escaping into worlds of myth, sci‑fi, and folklore fuels my imagination. I’ve started exploring different animals and creatures from those worlds as well.

Each of my artworks is a heartfelt tribute to the subjects I admire. A reflection of my love for animals of all kinds. My goal is to capture my subjects in a way that helps the viewer to see them the way I do. Each a beautiful miracle with their own story.
